William & Mary’s chapter of MindVersity shares the vision of the national organization, striving to bridge the gaps between access to mental health resources and students of color at our college. We hope to shed light on the voices, struggles, and stories of BIPOC students, who often go unheard at predominantly white institutions like W&M. Our charter was founded in Fall 2020, and since then, we have been working to create our executive board and become a recognized student organization on campus. Moving forward, we hope to engage in meaningful discussions related to mental health, foster a peer-support network, and campaign for more culturally competent resources at the college.

The UMBC chapter of MindVersity aims to create access to reliable and culturally competent mental health resources for students of color at UMBC. We want to spread awareness and speak more about the impact of the stigma of mental health on BIPOC communities. We hope to have activities, seminars, and speakers that will help us reach our goal. This chapter was founded in September 2020.

MindVersity at Rutgers was founded earlier this year in order to provide mental health resources and peer support to BIPOC students on our diverse campus. We aim to do this by establishing a Peer Listeners program that can be adapted to both in-person and virtual environments, as well as continuously sharing pertinent resources and information regarding mental health through various outlets, especially social media. Our members all came together through a passion for mental health and supporting our beautifully diverse community here at Rutgers, and we couldn’t be more proud of the progress we’ve made and the goals we’d like to achieve in order to raise awareness.

We are a new mental health organization that aims to better the mental health of the people in our Ohio State community and beyond. We are especially focused on the mental health of BIPOC, who are often neglected when it comes to resources and the stigma of mental health. We were founded in July 2020 by a psychology undergraduate student, Kelsey Travis. Together, we hope to build a peer network of students in a culturally competent way to achieve our mission. We recognize the stigma BIPOC students experience every day, especially on a college campus. As a diverse group of students from all backgrounds, we aim to support our peers in a culturally sensitive way. We want to make BIPOC feel heard and ensure proper mental health care access for all. We are striving to provide support from people who truly understand what it is like to be a BIPOC student through shared backgrounds and experiences.

We are the University of Pittsburgh Chapter of MindVersity, founded the summer of 2020. Our goals as a chapter is to embrace non-professional peer support focusing on the stigma, resources, and experiences associated with BIPOC mental health at Pitt. We aim to do this throughout Peer Listener’s program, in which students who are interested to be peer facilitators are trained through the guidance of specialists, therapists, and curriculums, mediating open discussions on various aspects of culturally competent mental health. We hope we can raise awareness and provide some form of support for mental health among BIPOC communities.

George Mason University’s chapter of MindVersity shares the vision of the national organization, striving to bridge the gaps between access to mental health resources and students of color at our college. At our large, diverse, and multicultural college campus, we seek to ensure that all students have access to resources, support, and a shoulder to lean on. We aim to provide a platform and advocate for students especially impacted by BIPOC disparities in mental health. Our chapter was founded in Fall 2020, and we encourage absolutely anyone who is passionate about our cause, to come join us.
